I specialise in assisting people with diabetes to achieve normal blood sugar levels, particularly those with type 1 diabetes or severe type 2 diabetes.  I have type 1 diabetes and I have achieved normal average blood sugar levels and I am radiantly healthy, so I know what it is like to have to manage the diabetes and how to deal with it successfully.

My Mission

Hi, I’m Katherine, your Health Champion.  I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves and that many modern diseases are caused by our lifestyles and can be prevented and reversed.  I am passionate about helping people to help themselves, particularly relating to health and especially diabetes.   My mission is to assist my clients in significantly improving their own health through taking control of their health, having the appropriate mindset and developing healthy lifestyles.

I will be your Health Champion, to spur you on to achieving great health and to support you along the way.  I have been interested in holistic health for many years and I have been actively researching how to improve health using natural, holistic methods since 2002.

Holistic Health Approach

I have a holistic approach, helping you to improve your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.  The different aspects work in synergy with one another, so that when you feel good physically, you will feel better mentally and when you feel good emotionally, you will be less stressed and more likely to take care of yourself physically, and so on.

I will consider you as a whole person and look at your lifestyle.  I will encourage and support you in making changes to your lifestyle, such as diet, exercise and relaxation, in order to improve your health.

I will sometimes also recommend natural treatment methods and alternative health techniques.  In this aspect, I will act a bit like a holistic alternative GP (general practitioner) / physician, by using my extensive knowledge of many treatments and techniques to select ones that are likely to be helpful for you.  I may recommend specific resources, courses or health practitioners who I have found to be useful in my experience and research.  Please be assured, I don’t have any financial links with any of these health practitioners.

Health Coaching Process

I offer a free initial health consultation to find out what you want for your health, to identify any challenges you may have and to make sure that health coaching is appropriate for you.  At the end of the consultation, if I feel that can help you, I will offer you the opportunity to book health coaching with me.

Before your first health coaching appointment, I will ask you to fill out a comprehensive health questionnaire, which will include questions on lifestyle, including diet, exercise and other factors, and medical history.  I will also ask you what areas of health you want to focus on and provide an exercise to help you to define your health goals and determine your priorities.

In the first coaching session, we will start to develop a health programme and an action plan, so that you are clear on what to do first.  I will work with you to tailor our approach so that it works best for you, e.g. with ambitious goals and making significant changes straight away or with modest goals and making changes gradually.  I will also ask you to make subjective assessments of various aspects of your health, so that we can track your progress over the coaching sessions.

In each subsequent coaching session, we will review how you have been since the last session, what’s worked well and what’s not worked so well.  We will review your health programme and refine your action plan as necessary, so that you are happy with how to progress.

I do not do any diagnosis, as I am not medically qualified.  I will require you to make sure that you have a diagnosis from your doctor before our coaching starts.  I will also require that you consult with your doctor before making any major changes, particularly if they could affect any drugs you are taking, i.e. you will hopefully need less of a drug or be able to come off it/ them.  I may recommend some alternative forms of assessment in addition, which could help to identify appropriate natural treatments for you.  We can also use these assessments and medical tests to track your health progress objectively.

Health Coaching Practicalities

I provide individual and group health coaching.  Individual coaching can be done in person, on the telephone or on Skype.  Group coaching is done using teleconferencing seminars and online webinars.

For coaching in person, I am based in south-west Hertfordshire, near Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns.  My location is north-west of London, near the Marylebone and Euston train lines and the Metropolitan underground line – although it is over ground past Baker Street!

My diabetes experience

I have type 1 diabetes and normal average blood sugar levels, i.e. an HbA1c of around 6%.  After all my health successes, ironically, I got type 1 diabetes in 2006 when I was 39.  Now I know that some of the factors that contributed to my previous ill health could also be factors in why I developed type 1 diabetes.

So, as soon as I was diagnosed, I started researching how to get better.  After some trials and errors, I found that I could lower my blood sugar levels and reduce the amount of insulin I needed through changing my diet and through exercise and improving other lifestyle factors..

I know what it is like to live with diabetes and how to manage it, including using insulin with injections and now with an insulin pump.  So, I can help you to improve how you manage your blood sugar levels and achieve normal blood sugar levels.

I can help you to make the whole process of dealing with diabetes easier.  If you have type 2 diabetes, I can also show you how to reverse the diabetes.  This is possible for some people with type 1 too, and I can show you what the most effective methods are.

The key information is given in my ‘How to Achieve Normal Blood Sugar Levels Report’.  Through coaching, I will help you to develop an action plan and support you with following it and making changes in your life to become healthier.

My approach addresses the causes of high blood sugar levels and uses natural foods and supplements along with exercise.  Through adopting this approach, you will not only have normal average blood sugar levels but also improve your overall health, such as:

  • reducing or reversing long-term symptoms
  • reducing the risk of major diseases such as heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and arthritis
  • improving the symptoms if you already have a major disease and possibly reversing it
